Injury Clinic

Biomedical acupuncture is an extremely beneficial way to help bring your pain under control from an auto accident or on the job injury, or slip and fall injury. By utilizing acupuncture, you can treat acute and chronic pain naturally. Acupuncture may be able to provide you with long-term relief along with improvements in physical activity levels, quality of sleep and the diminished use of pain medication. It can also help you with inflammation, contracture, tissue adhesion, microcirculation and edema, and biomechanical balance of musculoskeletal system. It can also be used for the prevention of physical injuries such as muscular avulsion; fracture stress and bone spur growth, and is a valuable way to enhance peak performance of athletes and slow down the aging process.
Our doctor uses spinal manipulation following your massage, or as a stand alone treatment based upon your needs. Auto accidents, on the job injury, and slip and fall injury can often leave you with neck and back issues; when allowed to linger, these inflammations will spread to more areas of your body. As your body tries to compensate, more areas become effective and the pain increases or changes locations. Our pain clinic staff are the best in Federal Way and only use spinal manipulations when necessary. This is not the same as a chiropractic visit; our doctor utilizes stretching and some other exercises prior to any adjustment, without the quick "crack" you experience at a chiropractor's office.
Our injury/pain clinic staff utilizes ultrasound in order to reduce the healing time of certain soft tissue injuries. Ultrasound can accelerate the normal resolution time of the inflammatory process by attracting more mast cells to the site of injury. This may cause an increase in blood flow which can be beneficial in the sub-acute phase of tissue injury. Ultrasound may also stimulate the production of more collagen- the main protein component in soft tissue such as tendons and ligaments. Hence ultrasound may accelerate the proliferative phase of tissue healing. Ultrasound can also improve the extensibility of mature collagen and so can have a positive effect on fibrous scar tissue which may form after an injury.
Our staff uses Electromuscular Stimulation (EMS) at the site of soft tissue injuries, such as muscle injuries, to block pain. Low level electrical current is induced into the tissues to reduce swelling. Electro-Muscle Stimulation helps to strengthen muscles and reduces painful symptoms. EMS is an effective form of pain relief, and Electro-Muscle Stimulation reduces the sensation of pain, decreases swelling, promotes muscle tone and helps to speed the healing process. Our pain management staff also has a special modality that combines ultrasound and electro-muscle stimulation together. This modality works well for focal muscle spasms (For example, under the shoulder blades or shoulders.).
This treatment is useful for many different types of musculoskeletal pain, including arthritis, back pain, neck pain, fibromyalgia, sports injuries, unresolved whiplash injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic tendonitis, partially torn tendons, ligaments and cartilage, degenerated or herniated discs, TMJ and sciatica. Prolotherapy uses a dextrose solution, which is injected into the ligament or tendon where it attaches to the bone. This causes a localized inflammation in these weak areas which then increases the blood supply and flow of nutrients and stimulates the tissue to repair itself. Our pain clinic staff are experts in this field and are frequently consulted for their advice. A visit to our clinic in Federal Way is a reassuring experience.

Inversion therapy is particularly beneficial for the spine in that it relieves pressure on the discs and nerve roots; this in turn allows discs to recover lost moisture and to return to their original shape, decreasing the pressure they can exert on nerves. Traction is a tool to restore proper alignment to the spine, which may assist in maintaining proper posture when later righted. As misalignment of the hips and spine can itself be a source of inflammation and pain, this is another great therapy for lower back pain. This type of therapy is also called spinal decompression therapy. The NW Injury Clinic has the only IV Therapy Bar in the south sound as of the creation of this particular website, and this type of therapy has many different benefits.  We offer a variety of “cocktails”, or IV drips, to benefit you.  Our physicians have observed its benefit in treating migraine headaches, fatigue, allergies, heart disease, acute asthma attacks, fibromyalgia, infections, and other conditions.
Intravenous (IV) therapy can also be effective in treating angina, chronic fatigue syndrome, bronchitis, sinusitis, fibromyalgia, hay fever, chronic hives, narcotic withdrawal, hyperthyroidism, muscle spasms, tension headaches, and some cases of mild to moderate depression. While many people have improved after the first treatment, others required several treatments to achieve the maximum benefit, suggesting this therapy may have a cumulative effect. The number of treatments needed varies by person and condition. Some individuals obtain long-lasting relief after a few treatments, while others require ongoing treatments to maintain the benefit.
If you’d like to make an appointment for our IV Therapy Bar, just simply call and set up an appointment.  We do take walk ins for the IV Therapy Bar, and the time needed varies.  Some appointments can take an hour, others as much as two hours depending upon your need.  We do have great cash rates for this service, as some insurance companies won’t pay for this service.
