Chronic Pain
is the most common musculoskeletal complaint that brings people to their doctor. With today's increasingly active society, the number of knee problems is increasing. Knee pain has a wide variety of specific causes and treatments – our staff are experts in reducing your knee pain and are Federal Way's experts.
Our Federal Way pain management staff has been treating back pain issues for years. There can be many causes of back pain including accidents, strains, sprains, and injuries. Two types of back injury are spondylolisthesis and cervical radiculopathy. Both have their own set of symptoms, causes, and treatments.
Muscle pain can be very debilitating. Myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) is a fancy way to describe muscle pain. It refers to pain and inflammation in the body's soft tissues. Myofascial pain is a chronic condition that affects the fascia (connective tissue that covers the muscles). Myofascial pain syndrome may involve either a single muscle or a muscle group. In some cases, the area where a person experiences the pain may not be where the myofascial pain generator is located. Experts believe that the actual site of the injury or the strain prompts the development of a trigger point that, in turn, causes pain in other areas. This situation is known as referred pain. By utilizing our massage therapy staff, pain management staff, and our doctor, we are oftentimes able to greatly reduce your muscle pain in just a few visits to a very tolerable level, or completely absolve you of pain on the first visit. Each client's pain symptoms vary.
Just about everybody at one point or another will experience abdominal pain. Most of the causes of abdominal pain are not serious and can be readily diagnosed and treated. Getting control of your nerve pain can be tough. The good news is that our doctors have a lot of effective ways to treat it. These include electrical stimulation and other techniques.
So if you have nerve pain, whether it's caused by cancer, HIV, shingles, or another condition, take hope. We are well known in the Federal Way area as the premier destination for pain management, and as such have other ways to alleviate pain than just pain killers or other types of medicine to just cover up the pain.
Joints form the connections between bones. They provide support and help you move. Any damage to the joints from disease or injury can interfere with your movement and cause a lot of pain. Many different conditions can lead to painful joints, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, gout, strains, sprains, and other injuries. Joint pain is extremely common. In one national survey, about one-third of adults reported having joint pain within the past 30 days. Knee pain was the most common complaint, followed by shoulder and hip pain, but joint pain can affect any part of your body, from your ankles to your shoulders. As you get older, painful joints become increasingly more common. Joint pain can range from mildly irritating to debilitating. It may go away after a few weeks (acute), or last for several weeks or months (chronic). Even short-term pain and swelling in the joints can affect your quality of life. Our doctor will first try to diagnose and treat the condition that is causing your joint pain. The goal is to reduce pain and inflammation, and preserve joint function.
Foot pain is reported in 8 of 10 americans each year, yet we seem to think we have to live with it. Guess what – you don't have to. Sciatica is pain, tingling, or numbness produced by an irritation of the nerve roots that lead to the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve is formed by the nerve roots coming out of the spinal cord into the lower back. Branches of the sciatic nerve extend through the buttocks and down the back of each leg to the ankle and foot. Symptoms of sciatica include pain that begins in your back or buttocks and moves down your leg and may move into your foot. Weakness, tingling, or numbness in the leg may also occur.
